Naan Bread

Makes approximately 15 naans. Consider also sprinkling each with some sesame seeds before grilling.
Serves 15
Ingredients
- 150 ml milk (hand-hot)
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil
- 150 ml natural yaghurt (lightly beaten)
- 1 egg (lightly beaten)
- 450 g plain flour (sifted)
- 2 tsp caster sugar
- 2 tsp dried yeast
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking powder
Method
- Step 1 Mixed together the flour, sugar, yeast, salt and baking powder.
- Step 2 Mix in 2 tbsp of the oil, the yoghurt and egg.
- Step 3 Knead until elastic (15-20 minutes) and then leave to prove in a draugh-free place for 45 minutes.
- Step 4 Knead a little, then divide into balls, roll out thinly, place on floured baking tray, and allow to rise for 15 minutes.
- Step 5 Cook in the pre-heated oven at 180C for 5 minutes. Then brush on with the remaining oil (or butter/ghee) grill on each side for 2 minutes.
