Ingredients

  • 1 lb mince
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 rashers smoked bacon
  • 2 onions
  • 1 large clove garlic
  • 2 heaped dessert spoons tomato puree
  • 2 tbsp plain flour
  • 1 tin tomato
  • 2 tsp mixed herbs
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 sprigs fresh thyme (small)
  • 0.75 tsp salt
  • 1 pepper (to season)
  • 0.33 bottle red wine
  • 1 packet ready cooked lasagne
  • 50 grated parmesan
  • 30 g butter
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 pint milk
  • 50 g cheddar cheese (grated)

Method

  • Step 1   Brown mince in oil, then add the bacon, onion and garlic
  • Step 2   Add tomato and flour to soak up the juices.
  • Step 3   Add tinned tomatoes, mushrooms and wine.
  • Step 4   Bring to the boil and simmer for about 20 minutes on low until cooked.
  • Step 5   Prepare the cheese sauce by melting the butter, stirring in the flour, heating for a minute, then adding the milk at little at a time. When brought back to the boil add the cheese and simmer over a very low heat for 3 minutes.
  • Step 6   Put layers: meat, lasagne, cheese sauce, meat, lasagne, cheese sauce, then put grated cheese on top.
  • Step 7   Cook at 180C (GM6) until brown (approximately 40 minutes).
